Premiere: Scrub & Ace Ha Release Final Installment in "Plastic Rock" Series
/Hip-hop duo Scrub and Ace Ha are back with the final installment in their "Plastic Rock" series, and it premieres today on Musical Notes Global.
In "Plastic Rock Vol. V," Scrub and Ace Ha brilliantly integrate sonic elements of Aerosmith while weaving in 18 titles of some of the rock band's most popular songs. The result is a hard-hitting anthem dedicated to life, dreams, and looking ahead to the future.
"For our fifth installment of Plastic Rock we wanted to do something more slamming and abrasive," Scrub explained to Musical Notes Global. "Ace hit me with this Aerosmith flip and I knew instantly it was perfect. It reminded me of some of my favorite Rick Rubin joints. To make things more interesting, I laced the verse with the titles of 18 songs from Aerosmith's catalogue. Can you find them all? I will post a key online a few weeks after we release the video."
"Plastic Rock" is a five-part series that finds industry powerhouses MC Scrub and producer Ace Ha pairing up to reimagine classic rock songs with a funky hip-hop twist. Previous installments in the series were inspired by hits such as Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4" and Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "Takin' Care of Business."
Set in a dark alley, the accompanying video for "Plastic Rock Vol. V" perfectly matches the track's strong rock edge. Check it out below.
