Babyface Releases New Solo Album

Return of the Tender Lover is Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds' first solo album in eight years. The album is a refreshing mix of R&B-pop and pays tribute to his 1989 album Tender Lover. With nine tracks, including the lead single "We've Got Love," Return of the Tender Lover also includes collaborations with El DeBarge and After 7.

Over the course of his decades-long career, the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter has produced more than 26 No. 1 hits and won countless awards. Recently, he was a producer on Alicia Keys' Grammy Award-winning album Girl On Fire (2012), and last year he teamed up with Toni Braxton on Love, Marriage & Divorce, which was also a Grammy Award winner.

Will Babyface add Return of the Tender Lover to his collection of Grammy Award-winning albums? We hope so.

Unbreakable: The New Album from Janet Jackson

It's been 7 years since Janet Jackson has released a studio album.

Unbreakable marks both her return to the studio and her renewed collaboration with her longtime producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, which has already proven a successful move. The album's first single "No Sleeep," featuring J. Cole, has become Janet's longest-running #1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs.

It seems as though as the years go by, Janet's voice parallels that of her brother Michael's more and more, and that is especially evident on this album now more than ever. We're especially partial to the "The Great Forever," which sounds to us like a track Michael would have recorded or, better yet, would have sang alongside Janet, creating a mega, chart-topping hit.

Unbreakable features 19 tracks, including the fiery "BURNITUP!," featuring Missy Elliott, and the more mellow but impactful "Well Traveled."

Janet is currently touring the US. For tour dates, visit janetjackson.com.

Live Your Life to the Fullest: Alicia Keys Releases New Track "28 Thousand Days"

One of our absolute favorite artists here at Musical Notes Global is the wonderfully talented Alicia Keys.

Yesterday she released her latest "28 Thousand Days," a confirmed track on her upcoming album.

The title refers to the average human lifespan of 28,000 days. The song enforces something that we all know but don't always remember, which is to live in the present. It's so easy to take any given day for granted. After all, one day is only a small piece of a big puzzle. However, without each small piece added one by one, the puzzle would never be completed. Each day has its own value, helping shape who we are little by little, like each puzzle piece helps form the larger image. "28 Thousand Days" is a great reminder to make the most of every day and treat it like the gift that it is.

Rising Artist Spotlight: Leon Bridges

Our Rising Artist Spotlight this week shines on an artist from the U.S.A.! It’s hard to believe that not long ago Leon Bridges was washing dishes at a restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas. Now he’s the next best thing in music.

We couldn’t believe our ears the first time we heard “Coming Home”. You know how sometimes you don’t realize you’re missing something until it whacks you over the head? Well, that’s how we feel about Bridges and that 1960s-inspired soul he’s crafting. Reminiscent of Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, he has renewed our faith in music by bringing back soul in all of its magical glory and hopefully sparking a much-needed musical revolution in the process.

We cannot say enough about this fresh, new rising artist, and we’re curious to see if others follow suit. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
