7 Songs We Loved in 2016 from 7 Strong Women in Music

2016 brought us some incredible music from incredible women. Check out this list of seven songs we loved from the past year from seven of the strongest women in music from around the world!

"Blended Family (What You Do For Love)"-Alicia Keys ft. A$AP Rocky

Featured on Keys' new album Here, "Blended Family" is an autobiographical song dedicated to her stepsons and showcases the beauty and love that exists in a family unit. "My new song 'Blended Family (What You Do For Love)' is inspired by my family’s personal journey to cultivate deeper understanding, compassion, support and love," she said in a letter on her website. "To me, family has no singular definition and the modern family is made up of all kinds of beautiful people willing to put love first." We agree, Alicia!

"Ya Lo Sé"-Natalia Jiménez

Natalia Jiménez recently released an album in tribute to the late Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera, one of the few women present in the Regional Mexican genre and a true force in Latin music. While Rivera tragically died in a plane crash in 2012, Natalia has given Jenni's music new life in the most stunningly perfect way through Homenaje a la Gran Señora. "Ya Lo Sé" is an MNGBlog favorite from the album that recounts the tale of a lost love.

"Make Me Like You"-Gwen Stefani

"Make Me Like You" was the second single from This Is What the Truth Feels Like, Stefani's first solo album since 2006's The Sweet Escape. The track is a total earworm with bouncing beats and a fun accompanying music video that was filmed live on-air during the 2016 Grammy Awards.

"Send My Love (To Your New Lover)"-Adele

One of MNGBlog's all time favorites from Adele, "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" followed the heavier tracks "Hello" and "When We Were Young" as the third single from her album 25. The ethereal music video debuted at the Billboard Music Awards in May.

"Encore un soir"-Celine Dion

In a triumphant return to music, Celine pays tribute to her late husband Rene in the song "Encore un soir". The title track from her latest French-language album, it discusses how fast time goes by when you're busy living it in a beautiful way.

"Million Reasons"-Lady Gaga

Featured on her highly anticipated 2016 album Joanne, "Million Reasons" is a stripped down acoustic ballad that is the definition of perfection and her performance of it at this year's American Music Awards was everything we wanted.

"La borsa di una donna"-Noemi

Through passionate, soaring vocals and profound lyrics, Noemi's "La borsa di una donna" poses a woman's handbag and what's in it as a metaphor for her world. The song was her 2016 entry in Italy's Sanremo festival.
