Feid On His New Album Así Como Suena
/2017 has seen reggaeton explode in a massive worldwide takeover, and as it continues to win over listeners around the globe, Colombian singer/producer Feid is leaving his mark on the genre.
As one of the hottest up-and-coming acts in Latin music right now, Feid got his start in songwriting penning tracks for Nicky Jam and Reykon, and is credited as a co-author on J Balvin's phemonenal viral sensation "Ginza."
With his new 17-track album Así Como Suena, which dropped on November 24, the Medellín-born artist delivers a satisfying dose of pure reggaeton intensified by story-like lyrics and seductive beats and vocals. In short, it's complete and total fire. "I hope people enjoy reggaeton, it's an album in which I got together with 15 producers, I traveled through America to spread the feeling that each song has," he explained to Musical Notes Global. "Each one is a story that I sing in dembow sequences. I wanted people to understand the perception that I had of reggaeton throughout my life, and so it drove me to record almost 100 songs to select 17 that reach the heart."
The album's title, which translates to "As It Sounds," not only makes reference to the pronunciation of his moniker (Feid is pronounced like "faith" with a Spanish accent), but it also conveys his artistry in just a few words. "To me Así como suena means simplicity, it's something that defines me, to compare it with something, it's like saying 'things as they are.' I named my album because I've always promoted reality in my career. My music, my voice have been things that I have wanted to stand out, therefore ASÍ COMO SUENA is literally a phrase that describes Feid."
Among the highlights are the newly released single "Ahora" as well as his international hit singles "Que Raro" (featuring fellow Colombian J Balvin), which spent 18 weeks on Billboard's Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, and "911" (featuring Venezuelan singer/songwriter Nacho), which has accumulated over 25 million views to date on YouTube. "Both were unexpected," Feid said about the collaborations. "I never saw them so near. I'm a person that dreams big but with my feet on the ground. Both took me by surprise in agreeing to record 'Que Raro' and '911' respectively...the both of them are too great and their answer was immediate. I have a lot to thank them for."
The album, which also includes collaborations with Reykon and Jory Boy, showcases the overwhelming talent that helped place Feid on VEVO dscvr 'Artists To Watch' 2018. The list is an international collection of 20 artists who are predicted to break out in the next year and finds Feid, the only Latin artist selected, joined by other promising and innovative up-and-coming acts like R&B newcomer Col3trane and Scandinavian pop sensation Sigrid. "I still don't believe it!" he exclaimed about his achievement. "The experience that I lived is incredible and what I'm feeling right now is a great desire to keep going and to represent Colombia and Latinos in the world."
Feid shared the official music video for "Ahora" last week. Check it out here. Así Como Suena is now available on digital music platforms.
