The Queen of Funk is Back! Chaka Khan Releases New Album Hello Happiness
/The Queen of Funk is back! Chaka Khan, the “I’m Every Woman” singer, released her 13th solo studio album on Friday, February 15, titled Hello Happiness. This album is her first release in over 12 years.
Hello Happiness features various sounds of new, upbeat contemporary mixes and old callbacks to Khan’s funk and disco days. All seven tracks were originally written for another artist with Khan featuring, but producers Switch and Sarah Ruba Taylor decided they wanted to write a full album for and with the legendary singer instead. After hearing the duo’s group of songs, Khan picked her favorites, added her timeless funk to them, and the rest is history.
The 10-time Grammy Award winner, songwriter, actor, author, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and activist embraces change and growth on Hello Happiness, especially after having lost her close friend, Prince. Prince and Khan had a friendship that spanned over decades, starting with the hit he wrote for her in 1984, “I Feel For You.”
Hello Happiness is sure to excite fans new and old. Khan’s return to the scene proves that her style and ambition is just as it was when she began to make music 40 years prior.
