Canadian family band Ludgate is an amalgam of the modern and the traditional, the past and the present.

What we love most about Ludgate here at Musical Notes Global is that they are a family band. Bringing together the distinct musical experiences of parents and their children, Ludgate finds the beauty that lies at the intersection of two generations while telling stories that speak directly to the human condition.

Ludgate released their latest album in 2018. An 11-track collection, What The Camera Couldn’t See employs elements of John and Sheila’s roots and folk music as a serene base for the vibrant electronic and rock influences of their three sons Luke, Anthony, and Shane. Over the course of 11 tracks, the album delves into the theme of the passage of time and the journey home, whether that journey is to a physical or spiritual place.

In these confusing, anxious times we’re living in, What The Camera Couldn’t See is a reminder that through joy, sadness, and sorrow, everyone shares similar experiences as humans living on this planet and that we are not alone in what we may go through in our day to day lives.

John Ludgate is an award-winning songwriter and musician who has been performing for over 20 years. Together with his wife Sheila, the pair has played shows across Southern Ontario, Montreal, and the United States over the past 12 years.

As members of Beautiful Nothing, Luke Anthony, and Shane Ludgate have received college radio and video airplay across Canada and have shared the stage with the likes of The Arkells, The Trews, and Finger Eleven.
