Nashville’s folk-blues trio South for Winter is back with a brand new single.

As with all of the band’s previous singles, “Devil is a’Calling” tells a powerful story. Filled with ominous melodies and grim lyrics, the track is one that will get stuck in the murkiest cracks of the soul, where troubled thoughts and haunting emotions reside.

"Devil is a'Calling was inspired by songs like Barton Hollow (The Civil Wars), God's Gonna Cut You Down (Johnny Cash), and Bottom of the River (Delta Rae),” the band reveals. “We absolutely loved the heavy, folk-blues feel of those songs plus the dark storylines. But there weren't that many songs we could find in that style, so we thought we might as well try our hand at writing our own. It's funny because now, ‘murder ballads’ like this have become what many people that know our music associate with it. Years after we first wrote Devil is A'Calling (and with the help of an incredible cellist, producer, and drummer that plays insane rhythms) the song evolved into this folk-rock anthem that was bigger than we could ever have imagined."
