Italian Starlet LITA Bursts onto the Scene with Irresistible Debut Single "Ciao Ciao"

Born in Rome and currently based in Los Angeles, rising singer and songwriter LITA is bringing the incomparable magic of Italian culture back to the United States this year.

A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, LITA began pursuing a career in music in 2017 after spending years as a voice over artist in major films including The Grinch and Lilo & Stitch. Ever since then, she has worked with the most talented producers and writers in LA to craft her own unique sound that will help revive Italian music in America and bring it to the top of playlists everywhere.

“I have always loved Italian music but when I moved to the States I realized nobody could name a current Italian song,” she told Musical Notes Global. “Everyone knew the classics, ‘Volare,’ ‘Quando Quando,’ and a few others, but there wasn't really a presence of current Italian music in America. Growing up, I was deeply influenced by foreign music and especially American music, but after spending 4 years in Boston, and almost 3 in LA, I was really longing for my roots. This is why I decided to bring my culture into my music.”

Admiring Italian songbirds like Mina and American innovators like Kanye West and Frank Ocean, LITA’s bicultural influences have dripped into her own music and are showcased in her newly released debut single “Ciao Ciao.”

An irresistible bilingual pop bop that unites classical instruments with modern percussion and exudes the unmistakable romanticism of Italy, “Ciao Ciao” was inspired by one of LITA’s first trips to Los Angeles, where she revealed she fell for an American boy. The song harnesses the excitement of a spontaneous fling, the elation of falling in love, and the heartache that comes with having to let it all go and return to real life.

The starlet also made “Ciao Ciao” a family affair, enlisting the help of her boyfriend Sebastian Torres to produce the beat while her friend Dan Gleyzer transformed a vocal recording of her mother—renowned Italian opera singer Fiammetta Izzo D’amico—singing Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata” into an intriguing instrument in the chorus.

“‘Ciao Ciao’ came from a deep desire to use my first language in music,” she said. “I have been working on this project for the past two years, and this song has been a trip! I always wanted to incorporate Italian into my writing in a way that would resonate with non-Italian speakers as well. And the only other thing I knew is I wanted my mom to sing opera on it. Once we had the melody of the hook, the words ‘Ciao Ciao’ basically came by themselves. I wanted this song to express the feeling you get when you spend a firey summer of love and then have to go back home, wherever that may be.”
