Introducing CNCO, the Next Latin Boy Band!
/Boy bands are a fascinating phenomenon, aren't they? We've got a new Latin boy band to follow now! Televised by Univision, La Banda premiered to 2.6 million viewers on September 13 and wrapped up its first season on Sunday night, ending the search for the next great Latin boy band.
The show was produced by music mogul Simon Cowell and former boy bander Ricky Martin. With platinum-selling artists Laura Pausini and Alejandro Sanz serving as judges alongside executive producer Martin, the contestants were clearly in extremely capable hands from day one.
Now called CNCO (pronounced "cinco"), the five winning guys premiered their first single, "Devuélveme Mi Corazón," on Sunday's finale.
Learn more about CNCO's five members:
Zabdiel De Jesús (Twitter: @zabdiel1344)
Puerto Rico's Zabdiel immediately stood out from the rest during his audition, when he proved himself to be a truly genuine performer and impressed the judges with his outstanding humility. He brings these qualities to the stage every time he performs.
Richard Camacho (Twitter: @lumnayofficial)
The charismatic Richard auditioned with his brother Yashua, but ultimately Richard came out on top. Always a fan favorite, his breathtaking performance of Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down" cemented his position in CNCO.
Erick Brian Colon (Twitter: @ErickBrianColon)
Seemingly an underdog at the beginning of the season, Erick Brian quickly developed his artistry over the course of the show. Having sung hits from urban artists Maluma, J Balvin, and Yandel during the live shows, Erick Brian will bring a little urban swag to CNCO. P.S.: We love when he sings ballads, too.
Joel Pimentel (Twitter: @itsjoelpimentel)
With a tender heart, Joel has the ability to connect to his audience and captivate them with his warmth and pure talent. Check out his awesome take on Ed Sheeran's "I See Fire" here.
Christopher Vélez (Twitter: @christophervele)
Christopher emits an extremely powerful honesty and deep emotion when he performs that will no doubt be a positive asset for him as he embarks upon his career with CNCO. We especially loved his performance of Laura Pausini's "Viveme"--she even joined him on stage at the end!
La Banda 2 will premiere next year. This time, the search is will be on for talented chicos and chicas!
As winners of La Banda, CNCO will record an album with Sony Music Latin, which is to be produced by reggaetonero Wisin. Don't miss CNCO's first live performance on January 30, 2016 at Miami's Fillmore Theater.
