David Archuleta is letting everyone know he’s here to stay with his latest tour, Winter In The Air.

Coming in promotion of his Christmas album of the same name, which was released this November, the tour stopped in cities like New York and Orlando before landing in Fairfield, CT.

Archuleta ascended into the public eye at 16 when he was a finalist on FOX’s reality series American Idol in 2008, immediately impressing judges and fans with how amazingly developed his voice was at such a young age.

Ten years later, it is thrilling to witness how much he’s matured as an artist, and during his stop at Fairfield’s The Warehouse, he was nothing short of flawless.

His voice full, silky, and completely luxurious, Archuleta effortlessly made his way through his catalog of Christmas songs, including new favorites from Winter In The Air as well as hits from his first holiday album Christmas From the Heart and just-released Spanish language EP Navidad. He performed each song with impressive emotion, his passion for his craft shining through each note he delivered.

Devoted fans swarmed the front of the stage, and it was heartwarming to watch Archuleta take the time to interact. Many of those fans made it known that they had seen him perform live multiple times, and they sang along with him throughout the night.

One of the most standout moments of the show was when he performed, without the backing of his four-piece band, “My Little Prayer,” a song inspired by a dream he had one night after he said he had forgotten to say his prayers. In that dream, he explained, he was saying his prayers and speaking to God over chords that eventually became the melody of the song.

Breaking away from the holiday cheer for a moment, he also sang his 2008 hit single “Crush,” which had earlier been requested by the audience. The whole crowd sang along excitedly while Archuleta let loose, engaging fans in the front row while moving back and forth across the stage with enthusiasm.

With the overwhelming love he received from the audience that night, there was no way he was going to end the show without doing an encore. “Oh Holy Night” was the perfect wrap up to the night, and proved, once again that Archuleta can sing anything and everything with dazzling grace.

For anyone with ears, it is obvious that Archuleta was blessed with a gift, but it is only during live performance that he reveals its full scope. It’s not just his powerful voice that makes him memorable, but it is his glowing spirit, sincere kindness, and gratitude for life that make him truly unforgettable.
