La Santa Cecilia Confronts Tragedy + Loss with New Single "I've Been Thinking"

Bolero-punk bossa-nova/soul band La Santa Cecilia is giving a voice to a new generation of bicultural listeners, and they’re doing it with impressive passion.

Fronted by vocalist LaMarisoul, the Grammy-winning quartet borrows its name from the patron saint of music and unites Latin culture with rock and world music, blending a variety of delectable Pan-American rhythms like rumba and tango together while honoring their Mexican heritage.

Last week La Santa Cecilia released their moving new single “I’ve Been Thinking.” With three of the band’s members losing their fathers over a span of less than 12 months, the track serves as a heartfelt tribute to those men who had such a profound effect on their lives.

“This song breaks our heart,” La Santa Cecilia says about the song. “We had a lot of loss this past year and this song reflects the heartbreak we have gone through with the passing of our loved ones.”

Soulful, compelling, and incredibly emotional, “I’ve Been Thinking” demonstrates genuine vulnerability and powerful honesty as it dives into the group’s recent experience with tragedy and loss. The single is the third to be released from their upcoming self-titled EP.
